      • Husband of Geraldine McAuley Chambless. Robert Frederick Chambless, age 83 of Broadway, died at Sanford Health and Rehab. He was born in Hope, Arkansas, son of the late Floyd Samuel Chambless and Bessie Cromer Chambless. He was preceded in death by his wife of forty-nine years Geraldine McAuley Chambless and his brother T.D. Chambless. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force and was retired from Kelly Springfield. He was a charter member of Friendship Masonic Lodge No. 763 AF&AM, and was Past Master of Sanford Lodge No. 151 AF&AM. He was also a 32ø KCCH Scottish Rite Mason, Valley of New Bern and was past president of the Lee County Scottish Rite Club. Arrangements were handled by Smith Funeral Home of Broadway, NC with services at Holly Springs Baptist Church. Burial with Military and Masonic honors followed in the church cemetery. Surviving are his son, Sammy Chambless and wife Glenda of Brazoria, Texas; Daughters Beverly Boatright and husband David of Aranas Pass, Texas and Robbie Chambless Clark and husband Kevin of Broadway, NC; Sister Sue Haynes and husband Bill of Mason, Michigan; Special niece Phyllis Clark of Lillington, NC; Grandchildren Christopher Chambless, Samantha Chambless, Kimberly Chambless, Henry Boatright, Stephanie Boatright, Nicholas Clark and Brett Clark; and nine great grandchildren.       • Wife of Larkin N. Crissman. Arlene Buchanan Crissman passed away at First Health Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. She was 87 and had suffered from heart and lung disease for years. Her parents, the late Alton Lee Buchanan and Madie Thomas Buchanan raised eight children: Sophie B. McNeill, Vada B. Tingen, Faye B. Cotton, Alton B. Buchanan, and Mary Lee Buchanan, all deceased. There are two surviving daughters, Annie Laura B. Seymore of Sanford and Sue B. McNeill (husband, Wendell) of Broadway. Alton B.'s wife, Phyllis T. Buchanan, also lives in Broadway. Arlene was preceeded in death by a daughter, Martha Rose in 1971 and her husband Larkin in 1984. Arlene and Larkin's big family includes Dorothy "Cris" Crissman of Raleigh; Bonnie C. Marshall and husband Andrew of Sanford and children, Caleb (Raleigh), Rachel M. Sibley and husband Kevin (Sanford) and sons William and Wyatt; Rufus Crissman and wife Mary (Sanford) and daughters, Kim Loftis (Sanford) and daughter, Ashley and son Dylan; Beverly C. Akers and husband Josh (Creedmoor) and children, Rylee and Gavin; and son Cris Crissman (Sanford); Kay C. Mattern and husband Kent (New Symrna Beach, FL) and children, Kaylea M. Linde and husband, Peter (Winston-Salem), and Kristian, Kirk, Kade, and Kassie of the home; Teresa and Audrey Crissman (Broadway). Arrangements were handled by the Smith Funeral Home of Broadway. Funeral services were held at Holly Springs Baptist Church in Broadway with burial in the church cemetery.
  36. Crissman, Larkin N.   (b. 17 Apr 1925 - d. 15 Mar 1984)
      • Husband of Arlene Madie Buchanan Crissman. Larkin died as a result of injuries sustained in a head-on automobile crash. Larkin was preceded in death by his daughter Martha Rose Crissman in 1971; a sister in law, Sophia McNeill who passed away in 1983 and a father in law, Alton Lee Buchanan who passed away in 1963. Larkin is survived by his wife Arlene B. Crissman; daughters, Dorothy, Bonnie, Kay, Teresa, Audrey; son, Rufus Crissman. Larkin is also survived by several sister in laws, Annie Laura Seymore, Sue B. McNeill, Vada Tingen, Faye Cotton, Mary Lee Buchanan; mother in law, Madie T. Buchanan. Services were held at Holly Springs Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
  37. Crissman, Martha Rose   (b. 27 Apr 1958 - d. 22 Dec 1971)
      • Rose passed away at the age of 13 from natural causes. She attended Boone Trail High School and would have been in the Class of 1976. She was preceded in death by her material grandfather, Alton Lee Buchanan. She is survived by her parents, Larkin N. and Arlene B. Crissman; sisters, Dorothy, Bonnie, Kay, Teresa, and Audrey Crissman; brother, Rufus Crissman; maternal grandmother, Madie T. Buchanan; aunts, Sophia McNeill, Vada Tingen, Faye Cotton, Mary Lee Buchanan, Sue B. McNeill, and Annie Laura Seymore and an uncle Alton Buchanan. Several cousins also survive as well as great aunts and great uncles. Services were held at Holly Springs Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
