  6. Kershner, Clark Laverne, Jr.   (b. 29 Nov 1928 - d. 3 Jan 2014)
      • Husband of 1) Irma Iliff Kershner and 2) Larue McAuley Kershner. Col. (Ret.) Clark L. Kershner , age 85, of Sanford, N.C., died at his home. He was born in Hutchinson, Kansas on Nov. 29, 1928, to the late Clark Laverne Kershner, Sr. and Myrtle Gore Kershner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Irma Iliff Kershner; his second wife of 53 years, LaRue McAuley Kershner and a son, Michael Scott Kershner. Colonel Kershner served his country well in the U.S. Army for over 36 years, first enlisting near the end of World War II and serving in Korea and Vietnam. He especially enjoyed the challenges of his years spent in Special Forces units. He also served as Senior Army Instructor of the JROTC unit at Lee County High School for ten years. Colonel Kershner was an active member of Holly Springs Baptist Church in Broadway, N.C., where he served a deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He is survived by his daughter, Karen Lynne Kershner of Sanford; a brother, Donald Kershner and wife Dorothy of Columbus, Ohio; a sister, Shirley McGlynn of Sterling, Kansas and a brother-in-law, Richard Iliff of Humboldt, Nebraska. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews who were very fond of their Uncle Clark. Arrangements were handled by Bridges Cameron Funeral Home of Sanford, NC. Services were held at Holly Springs Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery with military rites.
  7. Kershner, Larue McAuley   (b. 27 Oct 1930 - d. 14 Feb 2010)
      • Wife of Clark Laverne Kershner. Larue was preceded in death by her son Michael Kershner; sister Geraldine McAuley Chambless; She is survived by her husband Retired Col. Clark Laverne Kershner and daughter Karen Lynne Kershner of Sanford, NC. Arrangements by Bridges Cameron Funeral Home of Sanford, with services at Holly Springs Baptist Church and burial in the church cemetery.

      • Son of Clark Laverne Kershner and Larue M. Kershner.
  9. Key, Geneva Buchanan   (b. 7 Jan 1937 - d. 4 Mar 2020)
      • Geneva Buchanan Key, age 83 of Broadway, passed away on at her home. She was born daughter of the late Edgar Jefferson Buchanan and Beulah Hallman Buchanan. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Callie Wilson and Beatrice Adams, and her son Jeffrey Scott Womack. Geneva worked for many years at Cornell Dubilier and later at Convalescent Center of Sanford. She was a member of the Holly Springs Baptist Church and always had a smile on her face. She loved visiting with neighbors and friends and never met a stranger. She is survived by her sons Thomas Edgar "Slick" Womack and Anthony Craig "Tony" Womack and wife Teresa Womack. Sister Faye Richardson and husband Eugene. Grandsons Christopher Wayne Womack and Britton James Womack. Grand-daughters Ashely Knight and Rebecca Fuller; step-grandsons Jason Fletcher Powers, Claude Gregory Powers, seven great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. Arrangements were handled by the Smith Funeral Home of Broadway. Services were held at Holly Springs Baptist Church in Broadway with burial in the church cemetery.
