      • Husband of Marie Smith Hammonds. Johnny Graham Hammonds, Jr., age 72 of Broadway, NC, passed away at SECU Jim & Betsy Bryan Hospice Home of UNC Health Care. He was born in Lee County to the late Johnny Graham Hammonds and Catherine Patterson Hammonds. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Johnny Graham Hammonds, III, daughter-in-law, Renee Bodenhamer Hammonds. He was also preceded in death by his Uncle and Aunt, Sam and Annie Womack who raised Johnny as their own and cousin, Jimmy Womack. Johnny retired from GKN Automotive. He is survived by his loving wife, Marie Smith Hammonds; daughter, Angie Bowers and husband, Bobby of Lillington; sisters, Patricia Zutavern of Virginia, Faye Hammond and Gail Dickson of Maryland; grandchildren, Paige Upright, Dawn Hammonds, Heath Bowers, Cole Bowers and Audra Bowers and one great-grandchild, Zeke McDowell. Arrangements were handled by Bridges Cameron Funeral Home of Sanford, NC. The funeral service was held at Holly Springs Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.

      • Husband of Mildred McNeill Hinnant. Mr. Joseph Milbern Hinnant, 67, of 2862 Rosser Pittman Road, Broadway, died at Rex Hospital in Raleigh. He was born to the late Frank Hinnant and Mary Lee Dickens Hinnant in Harnett County, NC. He was also preceded in death by a sister Gracie Hinnant. He graduated high school from Broadway and attended Central Carolina Community College and Sanford Business College. He was a former member of the Broadway Lions Club and a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church serving as a Sunday School teacher and former deacon. He worked in the dairy industry as a milk and dairy salesman with Pine State Creamery and part time automobile salesman with Central Carolina Nissan in Sanford, NC. He is survived by his wife, Mildred McNeill Hinnant, son Todd Hinnant and wife Alice of Broadway, daughter, Carol Thomas and husband Bill of Sanford, brother Bill Hinnant of Harnett County, sister Pat Smith of Broadway, and four grandchildren; Jarrod Thomas, Kayla McNeill, Noah Thomas and Kyle McNeill. Arrangements were handled by Bridges Cameron Funeral Home of Sanford, NC. Services were held at Holly Springs Baptist Church in Broadway, NC with burial will follow in the church cemetery.

  13. Holder, Barbara Buchanan Byrd   (b. 8 Apr 1941 - d. 9 Dec 2017)
      • Wife of 1) Herman Lattie Byrd and 2) Bernice Baxter Holder. Mrs. Barbara Buchanan Holder, 76, of Lillington passed away at Central Harnett Hospital in Lillington. She was born in Harnett County, the daughter of the late James Edward and Rosie Cornelia Boggs Buchanan. Barbara was an active member of Holly Springs Baptist Church in Broadway where she was a member of the WMU and served on various committees. She worked for Blossman Gas in Sanford for over 30 years. Barbara loved to cook, fish, read and do search a word. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events. Barbara was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Bernice "Billy" Baxter Holder and Herman Lattie Byrd; sister, Clara Lee Buchanan. Barbara is survived by 2 daughters, Karen Byrd of Broadway, Debbie Cordevant and husband Jerry of Broadway; 2 grandchildren, Melissa Cordevant of Sanford and Eric Cordevant of Broadway; 3 sisters, Ernestine Cole, Janette Boggs, Rhonda Kelly all of Sanford and brother, Randy Buchanan and wife Susie of Broadway; nieces and nephews. Arrangements were handled by O'Quinn Peebles Phillips Funeral Home of Lillington. A funeral service was held at Holly Springs Baptist Church in Broadway with burial in the church cemetery.
