Location - 1771 Shore Road, property of Jane Speas Hutchens, in the Rural Hall area off Hwy 52.

Directions: Shore Road turns off Highway #65 (to right, if coming from Rural Hall). Grave site is situated in woods behind the Hutchens home.
According to one source, symbols carved into some of the stones were "hex marks against the devil."

Jane Speas Hutchens, present owner of the property, told us that Maria Comer (or Coller?) was a slave. Her stone has the "star" emblem the same as the other two unnamed stones that were also noted to us as slaves. Jane also said she had been told that there were other slave graves in the woods marked only by field stones.
