527    MCDANIEL FAMILY CEMETERY [Also known as: R.W. JESSUP GRAVEYARD]

Location - 2160 Jessup Grove Church Rd. Pilot Mountain.

Directions: From Main Street in Pilot Mtn, take Old Westfield Road for 2.5 miles. Take a right onto Jessup Grove Church Rd. and go 2.5 miles to the intersection with Cook Rd. In the intersection, take a right onto a private residential drive. The cemetery is in the front yard of the residence.

Public or Private: Very Private Property.
Cemetery not maintained, mowed as part of the homeowner's front yard.
Most of the markers are under the sod.
Ther notes about the cemetery: The current property owner insists that this cemetery has always been a Jessup burial spot and belonged in his family. He indicates that others have buried family members without permission. An older Plat shows the cemetery and indicates a marker for Samuel Jones Cain was in place when the plat was created. This marker was not found in 2021. The owner (Mr. RW Jessup) remembers some road work causing damage to stones from the graveyard many years ago. The Cain stone may have been removed at that point. The markers documented here were below the sod and required cleaning to be legible at all. Listed are three more shown on another survey with markers which were photographed at the time of that survey but are not visible in 2021.
