101 LINK SLAVE CEMETERY
Location - 'Cemetery is south of Pleasant Green Road, turning west thru the property of Conway Browning, then passing thru the Will Rhew place then southeast of the old Andrew & Sudie Harris place. Graves lie in wooded area behind the easterly tobacco barn.'
Surveys - Elwood Harris, son of Andrew Harris, surveyed the cemetery About 1972 and later in November 1987.
Comment - The land was originally known as the 'Link Place' and was later owned by Andrew and Sudie Harris. In 1956 Mrs. Harris sold this 98 acre tract to Ed and Frances Blackley, who were the owners in 1987. Elwood Harris always thought it was the old 'Link' slave cemetery. Other family members thought it was an Indian cemetery, since many arrowheads were found in the vicinity during the years it was owned by Andrew Harris. It is Said that Mr. Will Rhew, an adjoining landowner, always referred to this cemetery as a 'community slave cemetery.'
Graves, Marked - None. Roughstones (rocks) mark these graves, but no writing is evident.
Graves, Unmarked - There are two rows of approximately 17 graves marked only with plain rocks. In Nov 1987 only 14 could be located. there were several depressions visible.
