045    MOUNT HERMON BAPTIST CHURCH CEMETERY (1848)

Location - In south Eno Township just north of the Chapel Hill Township line, 0.3 mi north of the site of Mt. Hermon Church which stands at the SE corner of Old NC Rte 10 and Mt. Hermon Church Road (SR #1713). The cemetery is just north of the railroad tracks on the west side of the road.

Survey - This cemetery was surveyed on March 11, 1972 and rechecked on December 10, 1975. Pictures of all graves provided by Allen Dew in May 2003. Picture of cemetery with markers. Another view of cemetery.

Graves, Marked - The cemetery roster lists 215 names, although the graves of two persons, Henry and Samuel Hunter, who died in 1868 and 1870 were not visible.

Graves, Unmarked - The cemetery contained at least 18 unmarked graves, a relatively small number for so early a cemetery.
