Wife of Elton W. Arnold, Sr. Dorothy Spence Arnold, 79, of Lillington died at Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital in Dunn. Arnold was born to T. Kendall and Nora Smith Spence. She graduated from Flora McDonald College with a Bachelor of Arts degree and earned a Master's Degree from UNC-Chapel Hill. She taught English, French and Latin in the Harnett and Wake County School Systems. During her 33 years of teaching, she was on the faculty of the following high schools: Erwin, Fuquay, Lafayette, Boone Trail, Lillington and Harnett Central. Arnold was formerly a member of the Four Season's Garden Club and the Business and Professional Women's Club. She grew up in the Flat Branch Presbyterian Church where she served as the pianist for many years. She was a member of Lillington Presbyterian Church where she was a deacon, an elder and a moderator of Presbyterian Women. Arnold taught the Women's Bible Class for many years. She received the Presbyterian Women's Life Membership Award in 1991 and also served on the Council of Fayetteville Presbytery. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Elton W. Arnold Sr.; a son, E. Whitson Arnold Jr. of Boone; a brother, the Rev. Thomas K. Spence Jr. and wife Brenda of Sanford; and nephews, T. Kendall Spence and wife April of Indian Trail, and John W. Spence of Midlothian, VA. Arrangements were handled by O'Quinn Funeral Home of Lillington, NC. Services were held at Lillington Presbyterian Church with burial in the Flat Branch Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Husband of Betty Temple. Retired US Air Force MSgt Curtis Ray Temple, 67, of Bunnlevel, passed away Saturday, August 04, 2018. Curtis was born in Harnett County to the late Robert and Cleo Temple. Curtis was in the very first class of Radio Television Broadcasting at Central Carolina Technical Institute in Sanford, NC in 1970-71. He served in the US Air Force for 20 plus years before retiring. Afterwards, Curtis worked in various sales jobs. Curtis was an accomplished musician who could sing and play guitar and banjo. He sang with a local quartet, Fortress and an octet, One Voice. Curtis was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Temple and his sister, Margie Deckard. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Betty Temple; son, Bryan Pittman (Anna) of Archdale; sister, Beverly Gregory (Glenn) of Bunnlevel; two nieces, Kim Haase and Nikki Cauley; and three nephews, Jerry Robert Temple, Chris Deckard and Brandon Gregory. Arrangements were handled by O'Quinn Peebles Phillips Funeral Home in Lillington, NC. A memorial service was held at Flat Branch Presbyterian Church with the burial in the church cemetery with Military Honors.

Wife of Joe Wilder. Alice McArtan Wilder, age 87, of Bunnlevel passed to her heavenly home while in the home of her daughter, Vickie Wilder. She was born in Harnett County to the late Angus and Myrtle Shaw McArtan. She was a lifelong member of Flat Branch Presbyterian Church. Alice was preceded in death by her great aunts Flora McCormick and Jane McCormick Marsh (who she lived with during her childhood), husband Joe Wilder, sister Alma Kennedy, and brother Fred McArtan. Mrs. Wilder was a graduate of Anderson Creek School and Hardbarger's Business College in Raleigh, working briefly in Civil Service work before becoming a full-time home maker. Mrs. Wilder was a devoted and loved wife, mother, and grandmother. She especially enjoyed caring for her family, but also enjoyed shopping, gardening, and yard work. Survivors include her son Mike Wilder and wife Angie of Harrisburg NC; daughter, Vickie Wilder of Lillington; grandchildren Kyle Wilder and Courtney Wilder; sisters, Catherine Barnes, Jean Brown and husband Leon, Evelyn Bordeaux; and brother, John McArtan and friend Ericka Shroeder. Arrangements were handled by O'Quinn Peebles Phillips Funeral Home of Lillington, NC. Funeral services were held at Flat Branch Covenant Presbyterian Church in Bunnlevel, NC with burial in the church cemetery. The Wilder family would especially like to thank extended family, the Flat Branch community and Church, the Anderson Creek Senior Center, and the Harnett County Van Service that provided care and activities for many years during Mrs. Wilder's recent years of blindness; also, thank you to the people of Community Home Care and Hospice that enabled Mrs. Wilder to spend all of her last days in the loving home of her daughter Vickie surrounded by family.
