      Location - Haywood Village, Haw River Township. At the southeast corner of SR 1927, Haywood Road (Ramsey Street), and McCoy Street, 0.3 mile southwest of SR 1011, Old US 1

      On 24 April 1860, the Trustees of the Presbyterian Church of Haywood purchased Lots 125 and 126 in the Town of Haywood. (Deed AM-208.) In February 1890, the Trustees purchased one-half of Lot 123 "for the Presbyterian Graveyard." On 13 November 1972, the Trustees of Haywood Presbyterian Church transferred all of the property to the Trustees of the Haywood Independent Presbyterian Church, which was organized 22 October 1972. (Deed 371-229.) On 8 May 1975, the Trustees of the Haywood Independent Presbyterian Church transferred the property to the Trustees of Haywood Independent Bible Church for the "Purpose of changing the name." (Deed 388-649.)

      In August 1993, Barbara Roth recorded 316 grave markers, of which 315 are, at least partially, legible. On the original cards, she has shown more information than can be recorded here regarding possible family relationships, etc.

      Along SR 1011, Old US 1, at the corner of SR 1927, Haywood Road, there is a sign which says:

      "Historical Haywood Independent Bible Church founded 1859. Visitors Welcome."

He was born in Lee County, to Daniel Tracy and Pauline Cox Morrison who preceded him in death. He was also preceded by his brother Toby Morrison. Mack was self-employed in the construction industry for many years and was known as the "unofficial, official Mayor of Moncure." Surviving are his sons, Carlton Morrison Jr., and wife Deena of Durham, NC and Tracy Morrison and wife Kelly of Creedmoor, NC; two sisters, Gail M. Thomas and husband Halford Thomas and Jennie Arnold and husband Wesley Arnold all of Broadway, NC; granddaughter, Paige Morrison of Creedmoor who was very special to him and his two step-grandchildren, Olivia and Kyle Taylor; several nephews and nieces and great nephews and nieces. Arrangements were handled by the Smith Funeral Home of Broadway with graveside services at the Haywood Independent Bible Church Cemetery in Chatham County.
