      In 1987, Virginia Tilden, Margaret Hager, and Nevada Faircloth, of the Mann's Chapel Preservation Society, recorded 195 legible grave markers and 78 field stones. On 31 January 2001, Will Heiser visited the cemetery and Audrey Heiser recorded 23 grave markers that had not been recorded before. On 26 Aug 2010 Jim and Beverly Wiggins photographed all of the stones in the cemetery and recorded 231 legible grave markers and 81 fieldstones or illegible markers. Some corrections to burial data were also made.

      This cemetery was formerly associated with the Mann's Chapel Methodist Church, which is believed to have been organized in the mid-1800s. The church closed in the late 1970s. The church and the cemetery are now privately owned, although volunteers continue to maintain the cemetery. According to Nevada Faircloth of the Mann's Chapel Preservation Society, no record of who is buried in the unmarked graves is known to exist.
