It is reported that this cemetery was for blacks associated with the Snipes Family or the Haw River Mountain Church established here in 1806. The church was relocated, in 1830, to Orange County as Antioch Baptist Church.
On 25 May 1994, Will and Audrey Heiser, Cathy Jones and Nancy Peacock noted several sunken graves and 30+ field stones.
