      Location - off SR-1226 (Poplar Mount Rd) about 2.2 miles north of SR-1224 (Ridgeway-Drewry Rd). GPS location approximate.

      Coordinates: 36d 28m 56.2s N; 78d 14m 58.5s W Click here for Online Maps

      Directions: From Warrenton courthouse on N Main St, travel 0.2 mile and turn left onto Ridgeway St and Hwy 158 W Bus/401 N. Travel 4.1 miles to Norlina and turn left onto Highway 1S/158 W. Travel 2.1 miles and turn right onto SR 1224 (Ridgeway-Drewry Rd). Travel 1.3 miles and turn right onto SR 1226 (Poplar Mount Rd). Travel 2.2 miles to the abandoned cemetery on the right 100 yards from the road in a thicket of trees. Race-White.

      Note: The Record, Warrenton N. C. May 6, 1892: Lucy Norfleet Edwards, wife of Weldon N. Edwards, died at the home of her great nephew, Marmaduke J. Hawkins, in Ridgeway, N. C. on May 2, 1892 age 87. Her obituary states her funeral was held at her home, Poplar Mount, but her grave nor any grave marker has ever been found in the Weldon Edwards family cemetery. Funeral held on May 3rd, 1892.

      Note: Dr. Wm. J. Hawkins and third wife Mary White Hawkins are buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Raleigh, NC.

  3. Gee, Hannah Ruffin   (b. 15 Aug 1768 - d. 20 Mar 1847)
      • Sacred to the memory of. (Mother of Mrs Weldon N Edwards). "In the - - - - of her age The affectionate Mother kind - - - - Devoted Christian she was endeared to all who knew her" "Erected as a tribute of gratitude and affection by her Grand daughter, L N C"

      • Sacred to the memory of. Aged 40 years 2 months and 18 days. (Second wife of Dr Wm J Hawkins & Sister to his first wife Mary Alethea Clark)
  5. Hawkins, Mary Alethea   (b. 11 Jun 1825 - d. 19 Sep 1850)
      • Sacred to the memory of. Daughter of David & Louisa Clark. First wife of William J Hawkins. "The kind mistress, the warm and zealous friend, The loving - - - - Devoted wife, patient in sickness and in death resigned". "I would not live always No, welcome the land Since Jesus hath lain there I dread not its gloom There must be my rest Till He bid me arise To hail Him in triumph Descending the skies".
