One marker here is all that is left. Other family members were moved to Little Richmond Baptist Church when I-77 was built. Stephen Venable was a former sheriff of Surry County. Post Office was called Venable was just beyond where the marker sits. Names: Stephen G. Venable (b. June 1835, d. July 1902) and wife Kizzie Jones Venable (b. Oct 18, 1840, d. Sep 12, 1907) are on the marker. The Venable School and the Post Office both were on this property.

Restoration of cemetery - Billy Smith and Jack Luffman did this project during the last 4 months of 2009 and in January 2010. The original monument had been moved to Little Richmond Baptist Church about 2000. The project included obtaining a Civil War Monument for Stephen Venable, a similar monument for his wife Kizzie, and placement of an historical sign listing this couple's accomplishments for their community, county, and state. The photos on this web site show the results of this effort.
