195    STANLEY-DENSON FAMILY CEMETERY - (CA. 1852)

Location - On a dirt lane turning southward off Cornwallis Road (SR #1716) near the junction with Mt. Hermon Church Road (SR #1713), about 1 mile from the Durham line. The cemetery of about 1 acre is some 300 feet back from the road, near an old house and a newer brick house.

Survey - This cemetery was surveyed January 22, 1973 and rechecked October 21, 1975. This cemetery was visited by and documented by Betty Stanley Holbert, of Bossier City, Louisiana, on August 4, 2004. All pictures provided by Betty Stanley Holbert.

Current Status - Old cemetery - Stanleys; Irene Baucom, a relative, has names for unmarked stones. The new cemetery has her first husband, Denson, buried there. There are two cemetery parcels here: The Stanley Cemetery is PIN 9892-65-1576 and the Denson Cemetery is PIN 9892-55-9549.

Surviving Are 3 Sons: Jack Hicks of Durham, Clyde o Shambley of Durham, and W Richard Shambley of Hillsborough; 6 daughters: Mrs Bryant Sharpe, Mrs William Nichols, Mrs Lendo whitaker, Mrs Woodrow Garrett, Mrs Hugh Hayes and Mrs Ed Shaw Jr All of Durham; and 24 Grandchildren and 30 Great Grandchildren.
