She was born July 3, 1965, to the parentage of Lois Howard and Nathaniel Wall in Granville County, North Carolina. At an early age, she attended the Holy Temple COGIC. Later she joined the Millgrove COGIC in Durham, North Carolina. In recent years she attended First Pentecostal Church in Durham, North Carolina. Wendy attended Little River Elementary School, Chewning Junior High School and graduated from Northern High School in 1984. All in Durham, North Carolina. Wendy also attended Flight Attendant School in Florida. She was untied in holy matrimony to Jose Garcia. She was the proud owner of Garcia's Taxi, where she worked day and night to attend to her many different customers. She wanted to make sure all were taken care of when they called for her services. She leaves to cherish her beautiful memory one daughter, Mario Dove (Richard); one grandson, Noah Dove, mother, Lois Howard and step-father, Dennis Howard; father, Nathaniel Wall; three brothers, Keith Bradley Howard, Dennis Lee Howard, Jr. and Marcus Howard; three aunts, Pauline Downey, Patricia DowneYVereen, Eugenia Downey Dove who was raised as a sister (Reginald); three uncles, James N. Dennis was well-known and well-loved by his family and friends and was the favorite uncle to his nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, one sister, Mary Catherine "Bump" Lunsford, also preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his memories, his mother, Mae L. Brooks of Roxboro; three step-children: Chad Raglin, Peaches Raglin and Terry Williams, all of Roxboro; four sisters, Ester Sumner (Griffin) of Durham, NC, Darlene Clayton, Stephanie Poteat (Gary) and Hannah Wilkerson, all of Roxboro; two brothers: William Lunsford (Bernice) of Oxford, NC and Stephen Brooks, also of Roxboro; a special friend, Malika Cunningham; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He departed this life on Wednesday, November 8, 2006, at Duke University Medical Center. He was educated in the Granville County Public School System. At an early age, he joined Holy Temple Church of God in Christ. He worked as a farmer in earlier years, then moved to Pottstown, PA, where he worked in a steel plant. While in Pottstown, he married Susie Mae Sanford Lyons on June 21, 1970. To this union two children were born. David leaves behind to cherish his memory his son, Roy David Lyons, Jr., his wife, Cherise, and daughter, Caprice Lyons; one grandson, DeMarquis Lyons and one step-grandchild, Shanell Smaw; four brothers: Elbert Lyons (Nannie), James Williams (Marvis), Anthony Williams (Hattie), and John Wayne Williams; two sisters: Martha Ann Palmer (Daniel) and Jeraldine Jackson; five nieces, ten nephews, twelve great-nieces, seven great-nephews, one great-great-nephew, and many other loving family members.

      • Row-03, No-05. Former Wife of John McCray, Jr. Daughter of Earnest Lyon and Novella Lawson Lyon. Doris Lyon McCray was born on January 14, 1938 to the late Ernest and Novella Lyon in Granville County, NC. She attended Granville County Schools and received her GED in 1993. At the age of 13, she gave her life to Christ in the home of the late Oscar and Thela Green and began a lifetime of service to the Lord and the church. She served as a Sunday School teacher, YPWW teacher, and sang in the choir. In 1968, she answered her call into the ministry and received her license as a missionary in the Church Of God In Christ. She was later elevated to District Missionary under the late Superintendent L. F. Wrenn and continued to serve under Superintendent John Lyon, Sr. until the day of her death. She worked at JFD, Cristex, and Ideal Fastener. She even found a way to share the Good News of Jesus Christ during her years of domesticated service, with all whom she served. She was married at the age of 16 and to this union was born one son, Marvin Lee McCray. She departed this life on December 7, 2009 after a long battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by one sister: Jewel Williams; and one brother: Ernest "jolly" Lyon. She leaves to cherish her memories one son: Marvin Lee McCray (jean) of Virgilina, VA; five grandchildren: Bobby Cross of Butner, NC; Tamara "Tammy" McCray of Winston Salem, NC; Marvin "Lee" McCray of Oxford, NC; Faryl "Lynn" McCray of Oxford, NC; and Alexis Smith of Raleigh, NC; two brothers: John Lyon, Sr. (Gloria) of Oxford NC; and Henry Lyon of Pottstown, PA; eleven sisters: Sadie Lyon, Lonie Allen, Emma Lyon, and Shirley Ball (Bernard) all of Oxford, NC; Mae Brooks, Victoria Williams, Josephine Green (Larry) all of Roxboro, NC; Francis Satterwhite (David) of Timberlake, NC; Catherine Sconiers (John) of Hillside, NJ; and Ernestine Sconiers and Christine Smith (Tommy) both of Jersey City, NJ; one Goddaughter: Joyce Lyon of Durham, NC; seven great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Hallie was educated in the North Carolina public school system until she relocated to New Jersey, wherein she completed her education in the Jersey City school system. She attended nursing school and 1ater became a licensed beautician. Hallie worked at various jobs including Champion Catering Services and Ford Motor Company. She retired in 2000 from Grobet File Company in Carlstadt, NJ, where she was employed for nineteen years. Hallie was a prayerful fighter who knew and loved the Lord when He called her home. Hallie had the ability to light up a room with her presence and her sense of humor. But, will be remembered for her smile, kind heart, loving and humble spirit and always helping someone in need. She will also be remembered for her famous homemade cakes, apple and sweet potato pies, peach cobbler, potato salad, barbecue ribs and fried chicken. Hallie leaves to cherish her loving memory: her husband, Calvin Shackleford; daughter, Avery Scott (James); son, Anthony Shackleford, Sr. (Kecia Goolsby); grandchildren, Calvin and William Scott, Anthony, Jr. and Kaneesha Shackleford; great-grandchildren, Dayshia DeVilla-Scott and Markeith Scott; three sisters, Mary B. Hicks (Edward), Della Beverett and Julia Hester (Jimmy); five aunts, Gertrude Wrenn, Lonnie Allen, Lundale Taboran, Lillie Juanita Jacobs, Betty Carol Wilcox; two uncles, Robert Allen and Mack Allen; her companion of 25 years, Marshall Alston; a very special cousin, Priscilla Butler; special friends, Judith Hannah, Joseph Reynolds and Barbara (Little Bit) VonRhein, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors.

Williams loved and was a faithful member of the Gospel Choir. On Dec. 27, 1954 he was married to Jewel Lyons. To this union were born seven children: two girls and five boys. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife: Mrs. Jewel Williams; two daughters: Mrs. Martha Palmer of Roxboro, N.C., and Mrs. Jeraldine Jackson of Greensboro, N.C.; five sons: Elder James A. Williams of Oxford, N.C., Mr. John Wayne Williams of the home, Mr. Toney Williams of Durham, NC., Mr. Chester Lyon of Oxford , N.C. and Mr. David Lyon of Oxford, N.C.; fifteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three daughters-in-law: Mrs. Nannie Lyon of Oxford, N.C., Mrs. Suzy Lyons of Roxboro, N.C., Mrs. Francine Williams of Oxford, N.C.; two sons-in-law: Mr. Daniel Palmer of Roxboro, N.C., and Mr. Fred Jackson of Greensboro, N.C.; one sister: Mrs. Ruth Torain of Roxboro, N.C.       • Row-06, No-06. Wife of Lawrence L. Wortham. Daughter of Jim Chavis and Catherine Harris Chavis. Susie Wortham departed this life suddenly and quietly on Sunday, September 29, 1999. She was the daughter of the late Jim Chavis and Catherine Harris. She was born on August 7, 1938. She was a graduate of Joe Toler High School and later attended Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina. She was employed with the Granville County School System for the past 33 years. She worked at several schools within the system: Stovall Elementary, Berea Elementary, Butner-Stem Elementary and her final assignment at Joe Toler-Oak Hill Elementary School. At a very early age, she joined White Rock Baptist Church. She is survived by her loving husband, Lawrence Wortham of the home; one son, Xavier L. Wortham of Knightdale; two daughters, Marvis Williams and Mia Johnson of Oxford; two sons-in-law, James Williams and Vincent Johnson; one daughter-in-law, Rita P. Wortham; six grandchildren, Andrew, Gabriel, Michael, Maurice, Charisse and Briana; six sisters, Irene Harris of New Jersey, Lizzie Satterwhite of Durham, Queen Satterfield of Graham, Bessie Satterwhite and Sarah Hawley of Oxford, and Rosetta Taylor of Richmond; three brothers, Johnnie Chavis, Nathaniel Chavis and Earlie Chavis, all of Oxford; one aunt, Maggie Lewis of Oxford, and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.
