132    DOUB'S CHAPEL METHODIST CHURCH CEMETERY (Old)

Location - on Blueberry Lane, Pfafftown.

Directions: Go northwest on Reynolda Road from Winston Salem to the intersection with Seward Circle in Pfafftown. Turn west on Seward Circle, then west again on Seward Road. Follow Seward road past the current location of Doubs Chapel United Methodist Church and turn east on Balsom Road, then south on Kilmurray Hill Road. Take first right on Johannes Lane (gravel road), then first right on Blueberry Lane (gravel road). Cemetery is on north side of road in about 0.1 miles.

This is the original cemetery associated with Doubs Chapel United Methodist Church. Cemetery surveyed by Stanley, et. al. in 1975. There are at least 24 graves marked only with a brick or a field rock. The cemetery is no longer active.

History recorded on pp 804-805 of Volume IV Forsyth County NC Cemetery Records reads: "Doub's Chapel received its name from its founder, John Doub, an early settler in Forsyth County. Doub, born in Germany and there trained as a tanner, came to America at the time of the American Revolution. He first settled in Lancaster Pennsylvania and later moved to North Carolina. About 1790 Doub began receiving circuit riders into his home which became a regular preaching place. (Doub, himself, received a license to preach in 1802 and his sons - Joseph, Michael and Peter - became preachers.) A brick church was erected in 1858 and replaced in 1910."
