      Location - 1525 Shattalon Drive, Winston-Salem.

      Directions: From Winston-Salem go northwest on Reynolda Road to intersection with Shattalon Drive. Turn right. Follow Shattalon to the church/cemetery. Cemetery is across the road from the church. Shattalon Drive can also be accessed from University Parkway.

      New Hope Methodist Church was formed in 1874. Land for the cemetery was donated by John Mitchell and Martha C. Richmond on 23 Dec 1878. In 1880 the 1st grave was for Mary E. Walker, daughter of Ransom Walker, the major founder of New Hope . This historical information was given by Peggy Conrad Shamel. She also helped check survey results against church records.

      The church records graves by blocks, lots and graves. Blocks are Roman numerals, lots are capital letters and graves are numbers. Block I is to the left of the archway at Shattalon Drive. There is a drive between block I and II and another between II and III. Block IV is furtherest away in front of the archway.
