Directions: Shore Road turns off Highway #65 (to right, if coming from Rural Hall). Grave site is situated in woods behind the Hutchens home.

According to one source, symbols carved into some of the stones were "hex marks against the devil."

Surveyed by Phyllis Hoots. On 26 October 2005, Carolyn Marshall, Romaine Saylor and Peggy Taylor vistied the Kapp Family Cemetery. Photographs by Romaine or Carolyn.

Jane Speas Hutchens, present owner of the property, told us that Maria Comer (or Coller?) was a slave. Her stone has the "star" emblem the same as the other two unnamed stones that were also noted to us as slaves. Jane also said she had been told that there were other slave graves in the woods marked only by field stones.
