In Spring 1983, Kathy and Terry Jones recorded 21 grave markers. Reported in Kathy Brooks Jones Buffalo Creek Chronicles, Vol. I, 1984, page 44. There is a plaque at cemetery which reads:
"May 27, 1925. 53 men died in Farmville Coal Mine explosion 300 yards southeast of cemetery. The victims buried in this cemetery are: Claude D. Johnson, Charlie Wood, Henry Grady Hall, W.E. Byerly, W. Hollis Richardson."
