      The actual church building is located at 723 East St, Pittsboro. This is about 4 blocks west of the cemetery and between Hwy 64 and Thompson St. The cemetery is north of Thompson St.

      This was the original location of the African-American Hanks Chapel church. In 2004 Elizabeth Hains and Jane Pyle recorded 77 readable gravestones and noted numerous fieldstone markers and unmarked sites.
