      In December 1999, Audrey O. Heiser recorded 553 legible grave markers and noted 133 illegible markers or unmarked graves.

      First Meeting in 1848 or 1849 at Dodd House and at Cole House for protracted services, both about six miles south of Chapel Hill. Lystra, an arm of Mt. Carmel was constituted in November 1852 by Elders James S. Purefoy, Aaron Jones, and George W. Purefoy. Reference: Wade H. Hadley, Jr., et al., Chatham County 1771-1971.
